Obtaining Work / Life Balance!

Many people are too busy making a living that they don’t have the time to make a life. Many of us work too much and it is hard to find the time for the after-hours activities we enjoy. At today's meeting, members learned tips in getting a little bit closer to the work / life balance that you deserve.

1.     Get Organized.
2.     Get A Hobby
3.     Learn to Say No / just because you can, doesn’t mean you have to
4.     Institute a digital free zone
5.     Exercise / Nurture Yourself
6.     Be selective in your errands
7.     Limit Internet Time
8.     Plan Your Week / Prioritize / Manage your time
9.     Work when you can’t see others
10.   Only work in your Office
11.   Don’t feel guilty
12.   Accomplish non-work goals
13.   Do something for others
14.   Assess your activities and purge the extras

Achieving a work / life balance is an incremental process. Remember, those who have work/life balance don’t ALWAYS have a "10" in work/life balance; techniques that may work for one, may not wok for another. It is a journey of self exploration, so take the first step in assessing yourself, and start moving closer to the work / life balance that you deserve.

IMPROVE YOURSELF TO IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS

Many business owners are concerned about their company’s status and fail to realize the things they can do personally to improve their company. At a recent meeting of the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce, Leads Group II; Barry Kolanowski of The Compass Group educated members on how they could immediately begin to rethink their objectives and satisfy their client needs as well as their own.

Barry’s presentation on “Five Things You Should Know in Business & Why,” gave insight into different areas individuals can improve to make themselves more successful in their industry. According to Barry, one of the best ways to achieve goals is to focus on the short term. Planning for the near future allows you to revise goals as needed, especially if you are new to your industry or are forming a new revenue stream.

Another way to improve your personal and professional lives is to have a team of people that you rely on for certain values. Do you have someone that will tell you the truth, unconditionally; not just what you want to hear, that you value in your life?

If you would like additional information regarding personal and professional relationships and ways to maximize them while navigating challenging times and market trends, contact Barry Kolanowski at barry@thecompassgroup.org. Barry is a Motivational Speaker and Certified Life Coach who has conducted numerous speeches to many groups on a variety of topics.
